SCHEDULE OF EVENTS January 10: Board Installation and Commissioning of Staff (both paid and unpaid) Special plans are being made for worship on the Baptism of Our Lord, plans to more publically "launch" our new congregational structure and plans to more significantly implement our mission and reflect our shared values. December 13: Special Meeting of the Voters' Assembly A meeting is called for the purposes of adopting the proposed changes to the congregational by-laws and the election of the initial Church Board. November 8: Voters' Assembly The Revitalization Steering Committee will present, for a first reading, proposed changes to congregational by-laws, including a two-year suspension to portions of the congregation's constitution and by-laws. October 18: Education Hour: Structure and Governance During the Education Hour on Sunday, October 18, Pastor Albers and Bruce Berner presented the concepts behind the proposed changes to congregational structure, the "Accountable Leader Model" for church governance. It was clear that some of the changes will be significant and seen mostly by those who have already been involved in congregational leadership. Other changes will simply be more reflective of the way Faith Memorial already does business. (See Leadership) October 11: Voters' Assembly This Voters' Assembly marks the first of three critical meetings as the congregation works to not only adopt a new Mission and Core Values, but works also to develop a structure to better implement this mission and reflect these values in our work and ministry. The assembly adopted the Mission and Values as edited by the Leadership Team. The assembly also received an initial report from the Revitalization Steering Committee concerning proposed changes to the congregational structure (See Meeting Reports). September 13: Education Hour: Mission and Values The Leadership Team presented a draft of proposed Mission and Values, gathering input from members of the Faith Memorial congregational family. The input was considered carefully and discussed at length prior to a final draft being presented to the Voters' Assembly on Sunday, October 11. May 18 -- June 18: Community Leader Interviews At least 24 community leaders from all sectors of our community, including the several communities which are nearby (Chesterton, Portage, and Valparaiso) will be interviewed by teams of two or three persons including Pastor Albers, Leadership Team members, or congregation members. The goal: Better know our community and its needs Questions: "What does our community need?" "Whom should we interview?" Take a look at the CURRENT LIST of leaders that church members have suggested. We'll interview as many as possible between now and June 18.
June 8 -- June 18: Congregation Member Interviews At least a dozen congregation members will be interviewed by Pastor Albers and a Leadership Team member.
